Object Lessons (Bloomsbury)

Object Lessons is a series of concise, collectable, beautifully designed books about the hidden lives of ordinary things. Each book starts from a specific inspiration: an historical event, a literary passage, a personal narrative, a technological innovation-and from that starting point explores the object of the title, gleaning a singular lesson or multiple lessons along the way. Featuring contributions from writers, artists, scholars, journalists, and others, the emphasis throughout is lucid writing, imagination, and brevity. Object Lessons paints a picture of the world around us, and tells the story of how we got here, one object at a time.

Dinah Lenney wrote The Object Parade (Counterpoint Press) and Bigger Than Life: A Murder, a Memoir (University of Nebraska Press), and co-edited Brief Encounters: A Collection of Contemporary Nonfiction with the late Judith Kitchen (W.W. Norton). She teaches nonfiction for the Bennington Writing Seminars, and serves as an Editor-at-Large for the Los Angeles Review of Books. You can watch her TEDX talk here

Steve Mentz teaches at St John's University in New York City. He writes mostly about watery things, including Oceanic New York(2015), Shipwreck Modernity (2015), and most recently Ocean (2020). He also writes about Shakespeare, the blue humanities, and environmental theory. He blogs at The Bookfish (www.stevementz.com) and tweets @stevermentz.

Steven E. Jones is DeBartolo Chair in Liberal Arts and Professor of English and Digital Humanities in the Department of English, University of South Florida. He is author or editor of eleven books on literature, technology, media, and the digital humanities. https://stevenejones.org

Rolf Halden is Professor and Director of the Biodesign Center for Environmental Health Engineering at Arizona State University and founder of the ASU Foundation nonprofit project OneWaterOneHealth that provides COVID-19 wastewater testing for underserved US communities. https://onewateronehealth.org/

Erik Anderson is the author of four books of nonfiction: The Poetics of TrespassEstranger,Flutter Point: Essays, and Bird. He teaches creative writing at Franklin & Marshall College, where from 2014-2019 he directed the annual Emerging Writers Festival.
