If I find a book on your site, does that mean it's currently in stock at your store?

Not necessarily. If your order is time sensitive, please reach us at 323-660-1175, or by e-mail.

What does "On Our Shelves" mean?
This means that the item is currently in stock and available in the store.

What does "In the Warehouse" mean?
This means that we can order this item and have it ready for you, usually within the week.

What does "Special Order Subject to Availability" mean?
This means that the book might be difficult to find, but we are happy to try our best to get it for you.

When is my credit card charged?
In order to prevent confusion caused by orders that are delayed, have gone out of print, or for some other reason are unavailable, we charge your card only when the order has shipped or is ready for pick-up at the store.

I received a confirmation e-mail. Does this mean that my order is ready to be picked up or has been shipped?
No. This just means that we've received your order. You will be contacted when your order has shipped or is ready to be picked up.
What are your policies about security and privacy?
All orders are processed securely by Authorize.net. From their website: 

CyberSource is committed to privacy and security. CyberSource is compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard ("PCI DSS") as a Level 1 service provider. CyberSource has been compliant with PCI DSS since its inception in 2002. PCI DSS is the bankcard industry's most stringent security standard. Examples of CyberSource's security measures include: physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards; sophisticated security monitoring tools; documented security policies; use of strong encryption for transmissions of Order Information to and from CyberSource Customers; restricting access to personally identifiable information; and, periodic security audits by third party security experts.

When will I get my book(s)?
When a book is listed as a standard order that will ship in 1-5 days, that does not mean that it will be available in that time frame. If you elect to have it shipped directly to you, it will usually leave our store or one of our suppliers within that period. If you choose to pick the book up here and it is not in stock, we order it from a supplier. If they are able to ship it within 1-5 days, it may take as long as five additional days to reach the store. The book is then received into our inventory and the customer is notified of its arrival. Basically, this means that a book listed as shipping in 1-5 days will probably take a week to ten days to arrive here. Under normal conditions, when a book is listed as a special order, we expect it to arrive in 3-5 weeks. In some cases a special can take longer, or not be available at all. In any event, we will attempt to keep you apprised of your order status.
